The Horizon 2020 Information Day was devoted to Eastern Partnership participation in Horizon 2020: objectives and opportunities, applying for funding, validation of participants, and new funding opportunities.
More than 60 scientists and experts of scientific research institutes and organisations of Azerbaijan, whose activity area is connected to research, management and investments in the field of Health, Climate, Environment and Energy, as well as European partners from the Pasteur Institute, the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Regional Center for Development Information and Science (RCISD-Hungary) and PLANET SA (Greece), participated in the event.
Participants were welcomed by the National Coordinator and Deputy Chief of International Relations Office of ANAS, Ms.Zarifa Aliyeva.
Three parallel thematic sessions: ‘Health and well-being’, ‘Climate Change and Environment’ and ‘Energy’ were organised for representatives of the Scientific and International Cooperation Departments of the institutes of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences intending to support the cooperation in Horizon 2020 by focusing the calls in selected areas: Health, Demographic Change and Well-being; Climate Action, Environment, Resource Efficiency and Raw Materials; and Secure, Clean and Efficient Energy. New funding opportunities and benefits for researches in Horizon 2020 were discussed.
The second day of the Horizon 2020 Information Day was organised by the International Relations Office of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences with the support of the IncoNet EaP project and the EAST-HORIZON project ('Fostering Dialogue and Cooperation between the EU and EECA in the Horizon 2020 perspective').
The second day of the event a training on proposal writing and partner search was carried out. Participants, mainly local researchers interested in participation in EC funded projects, were welcomed by Dr.Tofig Babayev, and by the representative of Planet S.A. (Greece), Dr. Rafail Koumeri. Dr.Koumeri jointly with Ms.Nikoletta Psalti (Planet S.A.) presented the structure of Horzon 2020, and the new Work Programmes, which researchers need to get acquainted with in order to write successful proposal.
Dr.T.Babayev and Ms.Khalida Melikova (R.I.T.A.) made presentations on finding appropriate calls using the Participant Portal of the European Commission, the registration process for organisations and on how to get a PIC (Participant Identity Code), on partner search etc..
